Abstract Submission Deadline: 6th May 2011

Instruction on Abstract Submission
  1. All abstracts must be submitted to the MAC 3 Congress Secretariat before the submission deadline by email (mac3@novonordisk.com). Abstracts sent by post or fax will not be accepted.
  2. Please read the instructions carefully, as abstracts submitted not according to these instructions will not be accepted.
  3. The abstract must not exceed 250 words. The abstract should be typed in single spacing, font size 11 in Times New Roman.
  4. An acknowledgement letter will be sent to you once you have successfully submitted your abstracts.
  5. Please contact the Congress Secretariat if you do not receive the acknowledgement letter.
  6. Authors will be notified of the method of presentation, which will be decided by the Congress Scientific Committee.
  7. Abstract submitters will be informed of the status of their abstracts once the reviewing process is completed.
Important Note

Authors of abstracts accepted for presentation MUST be registered delegates and be responsible for all expenses incurred in the production of their presentations, travel and accommodation during the Congress.

Please register as a delegate before 13th May 2011 to ensure that your abstracts will be published in the abstract book

Structure of Abstracts

Abstracts should comprise the following elements, with each beginning a new paragraph:

Title: The abstract title should be in initial capital/lower case, not all capitals.

Authors: Authors’ names should be listed in the surname-last format and should be initial capital/lower case, not all capitals. Institutional affiliations should be indicated with superscript numbers following the author name.

Affiliation: All affiliations should contain institution, city and country.

Abstract text: Sub-headings e.g. Introduction, Method, Results, etc. may be included if required.

References (optional): References can be included in the abstract text or as a list following the abstract. The style of the references should follow the style of the Journal e.g. numbered or author/date style. Any references included in a reference list must be cited within the abstract text.

Tables: Tables can be included with abstracts and must be cited in the abstract text. The abstracts themselves must be in text, not table format. Figures: All figures should be cited in the text of the abstract.
Please note that any editing of abstracts is restricted to corrections of spelling and style only.

Copyright

Abstracts accepted for Presentation and Published Only are published in the Journal of Endocrinology and Metabolism. The publication of these abstracts must follow copyright assignment requirements for the journal. As such, all submitted abstracts must have a completed Copyright Transfer Agreement (CTA) form on file. The Presenting Author is responsible for obtaining signatures from all abstract authors on one form and submitting it to the MAC in order for the abstract to qualify for publication. Submission of the CTA does not imply abstract acceptance. If the abstract is not selected for publication, the copyright will revert back to the authors. Completed CTAs must be received by 1st April 2011.

Instruction for Oral Communications
  1. Please confirm your exact time and date of presentation.
  2. All presentations have to be surrendered for upload on the day before presentation except for those presenting on the 20th May 2011, in which case this can be done latest on the morning of that day before 10 am.
  3. Presentations can be uploaded at the Speaker Preparation Room. Failure to abide by this ruling might mean your presentation being struck from the list.
  4. Please be prompt and be ready to present at the appointed room well before the time of presentation.
  5. This will be an 8 minute presentation with 2 minute allowance for questions. The best oral communication abstracts will be selected for presentation either in the free communication sessions or integrated in a congress session.
  6. Authors will need to indicate their preference for an oral presentation on the online form. Instructions for oral communications will be given at the time of notification of acceptance.
  7. Please speak clearly and respond intelligently to any queries from the audience.
  8. Marks are allocated for Originality, Scientific Content and Presentation.
  9. The winners shall be announced at the closing ceremony on the 22nd May 2011. Participants or their representatives not present shall forego their claim to any prizes.

POSTER PRESENTATION
  1. All posters have been allocated their sites and should be mounted in place by 8.00 am on 20th May 2011 after which judging will begin Posters not in place when the judging has taken place cannot be entertained subsequently and will be forfeit.
  2. Please use the equipment and adhesives provided. Any damage incurred to the poster boards from unofficial mounting will be chargeable to the owner of the poster.
  3. You are encouraged to be at the site of your poster during tea and coffee breaks to entertain any queries from delegates and judges, although this will not be criteria for judging.
  4. Marks are allocated for Originality, Scientific Content and Presentation
  5. All posters should be legible from a distance with easy to read fonts and headings.
  6. Please remove all posters by 12.00 on 22nd May 2011. Posters remaining after this time may be misplaced and unrecoverable.
  7. The scientific committee has the right to remove any posters deemed inappropriate and action taken against the authors.
  8. A selection of the best posters will be presented in the ‘Best Poster’ session. From this session, the candidate for the Best Poster Award will be chosen. To be considered for this award, posters will need to be in place for judging by 10:00 am on Friday, 20th May 2011. The winners shall be announced at the closing ceremony on the Sunday, 22nd May 2011. Participants or their representatives not present shall forego their claim to any prizes.

Awards

Awards for the Best Clinical and Life Sciences will be presented during the Closing Ceremony on Sunday, 22nd May 2011.

*Apple MacBook will be given away for the award winners.
